Before joining Altra Law, Didier Leclercq was a corporate partner in the Brussels office of the global law firm of Linklaters.
Didier was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 1989. He started his career as an associate in the corporate department of the leading Belgian law firm of De Bandt, van Hecke, Lagae & Loesch and was made a partner in 1998. In 2000 and 2001, he was the resident partner of the firm in New York. When De Bandt, van Hecke, Lagae & Loesch merged with Linklaters in 2002, Didier became a partner of Linklaters.
His practice focuses primarily on private M&A. In his career as a corporate lawyer, including ten years as a partner of Linklaters and previously De Bandt, van Hecke, Lagae & Loesch, Didier has been involved in a significant number of transactions of different types (share purchases, asset disposals, management buy-outs, privatizations, etc.) and sizes, ranging from small domestic deals to major cross-border transactions, in a wide variety of industries.
He has significant experience in advising and representing both sellers and purchasers, in particular in auction sale processes. He has acted for Belgian, French, UK, US and other international corporates, as well as banks, government-owned companies and private equity houses.
Besides M&A, Didier has also developed specific expertise in complex joint-venture structures, foreign investments in Belgium, corporate restructurings (mergers, spin-offs, etc.) and company law advisory work.
